The views here are to die for, with the coastline spread out before you. This makes it a popular spot with tourists, who like to take pictures of themselves against the spectacular backdrop. Locals love it too. Most of the entrees are seafood-centric but there is something for everyone. Try the pasta Las Brisas, bouillabaisse with a half-lobster tail, or scallops in tomato saffron broth. There is a full bar and an extensive wine list with some good medium-priced bottles.

Sawdust Festival 200 Laguna Beach artists invite visitors to stroll along sawdust-covered paths through a village of fine arts and superb crafts. Since 1966 this event has drawn visitors from around the world who are looking for one-of-a-kind artwork, including paintings, jewelry, ceramics, photographs, sculptures, hand-blown glass and more. Meet and purchase directly from the artists! Hiking in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park
WILLOW CANYON (on Laguna Canyon Road, just South of the El Toro intersection): Open Saturdays and Sundays, 7 AM to Sunset. Open to hikers, equestrians and mountain bikers on specified trails, without guides. Volunteers available. Parking: $3.-; 8 AM to 4 PM. DILLEY PRESERVE (on Laguna Canyon Road, just North of the 73 Tollroad):  LAGUNA HEIGHTS (trail head for West Ridge trail and other routes into Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Parks). Open daily year round, 7 AM - Sunset. Docent led tours by Laguna Greenbelt Inc. volunteers on second and fourth Saturday of the month at 8 AM; and mountain bike rides by The Nature Conservancy on the third Thursday of the month at 9 AM. Look at separate listings for "Organized Activities" on the specific dates of interest. LITTLE SYCAMORE CANYON This area, site of the James and Rosemary Nix Nature Center, will open in early 2007. Located on Laguna Canyon Road, just south of the I-405 interchange. For updates, call the park or check the website.

Crystal Cove State Park has 3.5 miles of beach and 2,000 acres of undeveloped woodland, which is popular for hiking and horseback riding. The offshore waters are designated as an underwater park. Crystal Cove is used by mountain bikers inland and scuba and skin divers underwater. The beach is popular with swimmers and surfers. Visitors can explore tidepools and sandy coves.
